Free 12-week weight loss project for african & caribbean people

Big news for our Tulse Hill community! This September, the Lambeth Healthy Weight Hub is bringing a 12-week weight management programme right to Jubilee Hall!

It’s about making healthy choices that keep you healthy in he long run, all while enjoying traditional food and customs.

It has supportive group sessions and is packed with nutrition tips, behaviour change education with physical activity thrown in!

Ready to get started? Register online or call 020 7188 2010 and press option 1

This is 12 weeks of proper support right in your community. You'll be working alongside neighbours who understand your challenges, with professional NHS-backed guidance that helps you build habits that actually stick.

Jubilee Hall is right there on the estate so you can fit in the programme around your normal day without stress.

Who Can Join?

Open to Lambeth residents or anyone with a Lambeth GP. You'll need to meet certain BMI criteria (there's an easy calculator to check), and there are a few medical exclusions for safety. Not sure if you qualify? Just give the friendly team a call – they'll help you figure it out!

Lanceford lost 8kg

“I found the programme very educational. You can talk about putting food in a specific area on the plate, but with Caribbean dinners you have to consider the height of the food too.

Lanceford’s story

Lanceford Brown, 56, from Stockwell (pictured) has lost 8kg since joining the programme at West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre. He has type 2 diabetes and has taken high blood pressure medication since his mid-30s.

“I found the programme very educational. You can talk about putting food in a specific area on the plate, but with Caribbean dinners you have to consider the height of the food too.

“The main thing that the programme has given me is structure – it allows me to plan my meals at regular times, I do my exercise at regular times and now I’m very specific with my shopping. I stay away from the processed food – everything in moderation, even if I am buying the healthier option. You learn to choose fresh produce, and brown rice rather than white rice.”
